The Karnataka High Court on Friday reserved its order on a  interlocutory application filed as part of a  PIL challenging the construction of the Sivananda steel bridge.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice H G Ramesh and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar was hearing the  PIL, filed by B P Mahesh and 19 citizens residing near the Sivananda Circle.

The counsel for the petitioners stated that the Hare Krishna Road was meant for widening and not for constructing flyovers. The petitioners continue to content that the construction plan is not in accordance with the Indian Road Congress (IRC) guidelines.

The government counsel, however, submitted that the guidelines have been followed to the best possible extent, even though it was  not mandatory.
