The High Court on Saturday suggested the City Police Commissioner to constitute a special team for tracing missing girls, women and mentally challenged persons.

During the hearing of a petition by a person whose missing brother had not been traced even after six years, a division bench comprising Justices N Kumar and B Veerappa said that such people could be victimised and hence the police should take the matter seriously. Police Commissioner M N Reddi, who was present in the court, assured that he would take personal interest in such matters.

Notice ordered

The High Court has ordered notice to Special Public Prosecutor Bhavani Singh, who is appearing on behalf of Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Corruption in an appeal by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

Hearing an appeal by  DMK leader K Anbazhagan, challenging the appointment of Singh in the case,  a division bench comprising Justices K L Manjunath and S Sujatha directed Singh and TNDVAC to file their objections.
