The Koramangala police have launched a search to trace a two-wheeler rider for assaulting an IT professional who clicked the latter’s picture and videographed his act of riding the two-wheeler on a footpath in the locality.

The incident took place around 10.40 am at Wipro Park Circle near Flipkart office on Monday. Ankit Chowdhary, the victim, in his Facebook post wrote: “There are always a few folks who break the law and ride on footpaths and it’s always an inconvenience to pedestrians. So, I duly take photos and report them - in hope it will slowly reduce.

Today's (Monday) guy was an exception. As soon as I took the photo, he stopped his bike and started moving towards me to hit me.” Chowdhary said he started video recording on his phone as the suspect stopped the two-wheeler and approached him.

“He tried to smash my phone to destroy the video/ photos. I think the mic (sic) stopped working somewhere there. Just the most unexpected, unruly behaviour I have ever seen,” Chowdhary stated.

Chowdhary’s post shows a man in the video riding a black scooter on the footpath. He slaps Chowdhary a couple of times. The post went viral on social media as it was shared more than 300 times, including to the Bengaluru traffic police.  As it is a case of assault, the traffic police directed him to approach the Koramangala police to lodge a complaint.

“A non-cognisable offence report has been generated based on Ankit’s report. The vehicle was registered in the name of one Hanume Gowda,” the police said.
