Pallabh, along with his wife Sanchita, has been accused of torturing their 14 year old maid Durga, who was rescued in a traumatised condition on December 29.

The Bangalore chapter of Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), a network of NGOs working againt child labour, protested outside the couple’s home at Somasundar Palya in HSR layout. The convener of CACL, Bangalore Nagasimha Rao told Deccan Herald that the protest was not only to demand the sacking of the techie but also to raise awareness among corporates to have a binding Child Rights Policy on their employees.

“We demand the sacking of Pallabh Chakraborty by Infosys. Further, employees at big corporates. Further, a large number of cases of domestic violence and torture involve employees at big corporates. This protest is to raise awareness about the importance of a Child Rights policy among corporates,” he said.

The NGOs also protested against the release of Pallabh’s wife Sanchita on bail and distributed material raising awareness about child labour. Meanwhile, the Kolkata chapter of CACL is on a fact finding mission about Durga, who is reportedly an orphan, with a view to rehabilitate her.

Rao said that efforts were on to establish more information about Durga and the first step of rehabilitating her would be to provide intensive counselling as she was terribly traumatised.
