All telecom service providers and optical fibre companies must submit affidavits of their mobile phone towers and OFC cables in the city by January 20, the BBMP has said.
"The companies should map their towers and OFCs through the geographic information system (GIS). Once they submit the affidavits to the BBMP, ward engineers will take up a ground survey and update the GIS map. If we find out illegal mobile towers, we will issue notices to property owners, too," BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said.
To regulate the illegal mobile towers, the Urban Development Department published a draft policy in 2016. To set up a mobile tower, the civic body must be paid an installation fee of Rs 50,000.
