A JD (S) functionary was arrested on Tuesday for assaulting a woman and threatening to kill her.
Narayana lives in Mahalakshmi Layout, North Bengaluru, and is the general secretary of the party's state backward classes wing, a police officer said. He is related to the woman and was once a history-sheeter.
Narayana was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the woman. In the complaint, she said that on February 16, when she was bringing her son from a coaching class, he picked a quarrel with her and dragged her in the middle of the road. He misbehaved with her and assaulted her. He also assaulted a passerby who came to her rescue. Narayana threatened to kill her if she went to the police.
Police are investigating the motive for the assault, the officer added.
