A conference was held in Bengaluru on Sunday to put pressure on the government to legalise marijuana. About 300 people attended it and said India should make use of the medicinal properties of the drug.

In several countries, doctors are prescribing marijuana extracts to treat serious ailments especially cancer. Many US states have lifted ban on the drug.

Many cancer patients and their family members took part in the conference. They came out strongly in support of lifting the ban on marijuana.
