The Vidyaranyapura police arrested a man for murdering his live-in partner on Thursday night.
The suspect is Nagaraj, a resident of Ashraya Colony. He is accused of strangulating Manjula, 21.
Manjula, a widow with a daughter, had lost her husband four years ago. Nagaraj was married, but had parted ways with his wife. The two of them were living together in Ashraya Colony, said the police.
The relationship between the two had strained and they used to fight frequently. They fought over a petty issue on Thursday night too and Nagaraj strangled her with her duppatta, said the police.
He then called up victim’s mother Gouramma, a resident of Kodigehalli, and told her that Manjula’s had hanged herself. Gouramma was suspicious and lodged a complaint. The police took him into custody where he confessed to the crime.
