NGO Anvaya Foundation, which collects old bicycles and donates them to underprivileged schoolchildren after repair, on Saturday donated 120 cycles to students of the Seegehalli Government School.

Beginning the initiative three years ago, the foundation collected old and broken cycles from donors across the city. "We get them back in working order and distribute them to government schoolchildren," said a volunteer from Anvaya Foundation.

While it began with four cycles in its first year, the foundation donated 38 cycles last year. Until now, it has given 220 cycles to students in the city.

Besides government school students, the NGO also distributes it among children in orphanages and schools in rural areas as it hopes to reach out to the really needy children.
