People want BBMP budget to focus on roads

The ‘MyCityMyBudget’ initiative of Janagraha to elicit public inputs for the BBMP budget (2016-17), saw participants laying thrust on maintenance of roads and footpath.

While 38% of the suggestions by the citizens related to road and footpath maintenance, 18% of the total inputs was on health and sanitation. Environmental issues occupied the third slot (12%) while 8% of the suggestions was on crime and safety, according to press release issued by BBMP. The Palike had collaborated with Janagraha for the initiative. The suggestions for the upcoming budget were collected from citizens across the city.

“We will consider the suggestions and attempt to incorporate them in the budget,”said Mayor G Padmavathi. Two ‘Budget Buses’ travelled to 160 wards in the last 52 days covering 1,560 kms, to elicit public opinion.
