Burglars struck at two homes in West Bengaluru on Sunday and made off with gold and silver ornaments besides cash.

In the first incident, burglars made off with 300 grams of gold, 350 grams of silver and cash from a house in  Chandra Layout after sneaking in through  the back door on December 16.

The inhabitant,  Kumar, a software engineer, was out of town at the time of the incident.  The burglary emerged on Sunday when the family returned home, the Chandra Layout police said.

In the second incident, burglars entered a house near the Vijayanagar Swimming Pool, posing as launderers and made off with cash and 300 grams of gold ornaments. Shashikala, the  householder, was  busy feeding her child when the burglars arrived.  When asked, they told her they were from a laundry and that her mother had asked them to come.  Shashikala realised the folly later and filed  a complaint at the Vijayanagar police station.
