The State government will invite suggestions from stakeholders, non-governmental organisations and the general public about the mono rail project in Bangalore, shortly.

Home minister K J George said on Tuesday that the consultation process will be set in motion after the legislature session. He said the proposed monorail will act as a feeder service for the Metro in the near future.

“Commuters staying in far-off areas will be able to travel to Metro stations by monorail. We will work out modalities accordingly,” George said while speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of launch of National Road Safety Week here on Tuesday.

He said the government will consider public-private partnership model for the project. A few organisations had made presentations to the chief minister on the project, but no decision had been taken yet.

In September last year, a Malaysia-based company had shown interest in taking up the monorail project, but no decision was taken at that time. The project had been gathering dust since 2005 when it was first proposed.

The minister said that the government will seek public opinion on extending the nightlife in Bangalore.
