Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was served vangibath and curd rice after he inaugurated the Indira Canteen on Wednesday.

Although the food was supplied free of cost on the launch day, Rahul insisted on paying for the lunch.

Mayor G Padmavathi and Bengaluru Development Minister K J George accompanied Rahul for the lunch. He said, “The quality of the food is good. It should be maintained like this consistently.”

When he asked about the mechanism of maintaining the cleanliness at the canteen, George explained the Standard Operating Procedure that is followed, where a weekly report on cleanliness and hygiene is submitted to BBMP officials.
