During the hearing, the Adalat, headed by Justice K L Manjunath directed the State Government to file an undertaking that it will ensure construction by February 13, 2010 and failing to do so will close down the hospitals by itself.
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has been directed to keep in abeyance its order to close down the hospitals until February, 2010.
The government counsel said that as per the adalat’s directions, the State has come out with a modified proposal and will comply with the order. He said that the State will complete the construction of ETP within the stipulated time and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has been assigned the task to construct ETPs and a sum of Rs 9.14 crores has been released.
