Retired IAS officer from Karnataka cadre Upendra Tripathy has been appointed the Interim Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
Union Power and Renewable Minister Piyush Goyal and French Energy and Environment Minister Segolene Royal on Tuesday jointly decided to appoint Tripathy to the post.
Earlier, Tripathy served as secretary to Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, a statement said. The ISA was launched in 2015 to provide a dedicated platform for cooperation among solar resource rich countries to increase use of the solar energy in meeting energy needs. Its interim secretariat is at Gurugram.
