Seshadripuram First Grade College recently conducted an event titled ‘Kala Kusuma-A Theatre Club’ in its premises. The occasion was graced by Jnanpith awardee Dr Chandrashekhara Kambara.

He addressed the gathering stating that India is a land of culture and great heritage. “Two great revolutions took place in Indian history and brought about a drastic change in society. One is the bhakthi movement and the other is the education system. These movements have enlightened our people with rich knowledge,” he said.

He expressed his wish for the betterment of the education system and gave a guideline to the upcoming generation to inculcate Kannada in their academics.

Dr M Prakash, director of studies, Seshadripuram Educational Trust, welcomed the guests. General secretary, Dr Wooday P Krishna, delivered the keynote address and expressed his view on the teaching skills of the institution stating that, “We teach Kannada as well as English to our students so that they are capable of facing the world irrespective of languages without any hindrance.”

President S N Pandithaaradhya presided over the function. Principal Dr S N Venkatesh rendered the vote of thanks.

The programme was organised by co-ordinators Santanu Das and Jayachandrashekar. The popular play of Chandrashekhara Kambara, ‘Beppasa Thakkadi Bolla Shankara’, was performed by drama troupe ‘Rangabhaskara’.

Head of department of Kannada, Dr Geetha D C, was the emcee on the occasion.
Some poems and songs of Dr Kambara were also rendered by the students. The function was attended by a large number of people comprising the staff and students of the college.
