Following criticism, Siddaramaiah issued an order to the police to not block ambulances for his convoy.

Faced with criticism for blocking an ambulance in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday directed the police not to stop ambulances in order to make way for his convoy.

“I was not aware of the incident (of traffic police stopping an ambulance). I learnt about it from the media reports. I had directed the police not to stop ambulances. Still the incident has happened unexpectedly,” he stated.

The police have been directed to ensure that such incidents do not recur, he said.

The incident happened on Tuesday when the chief minister was on his way to Ravindra Kalakshetra to attend “Bhageeratha Jayanti” organised by the Kannada and Culture department. As the convoy reached Town Hall, police stopped the traffic on JC Road. Among the vehicles stuck in the traffic was an ambulance.
