“The media has reported that Hemanth Nimbalkar, SP (Intelligence) has filed a defamation case against me in a civil court for leaking out the details of the raid on his house in a press conference. He contends that until a trial is conducted, these details cannot be made public," Justice Hegde told Deccan Herald.
Hegde, however, said that he was yet to get a notice from the court in this regard and hence was unaware of its content. He added that the raid was conducted in March 2009 when Nimbalkar was SP in Belgaum.
Nimbalkar was upset over Lokayukta's assertion that he possessed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. Hegde said he stood by his decision to make the details of the raid public. “This is nothing new as such litigations have been filed earlier,” he observed.
