Taneira will be presenting ‘Thari – The Loom’, conceived and choreographed by award-winning bharatanatyam dancer Malavika Sarukkai on October 5, 7.15 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.
‘Thari – The Loom’ explores the design and play of thread, together with ideas of the constant and variable, the eternal and changing – the warp and weft. Through inventive dance design and specially commissioned poetry and music – colour, design and motif assume mythic and philosophical dimensions, such that the sari becomes a metaphor for life itself.
The production weaves together inputs from several talented artistes across India.
Malavika Sarukkai’s dedicated group of dancers include the dynamic and gifted Jyotsna Jagannathan and promising talents – Aruna Balagurunathan, Shruthipriya Margabandhu Ravichandran, Navyashree KN and Shreema Upadhyaya.
