After boycotting the council meeting, the BJP members rushed to the room of Standing Committee President K S Ramesh, on Saturday.

“The CMC is not functioning in favour of people. The decisions taken in the monthly meetings are not implemented. Condemning the apathy of CMC administration, we are boycotting the meeting,” said CMC members belonging to BJP.

As the meeting commenced, a few BJP members walked out of the hall and assembled at standing committee President K S Ramesh’s room.

Member T S Prakash said that none of the pro people decisions taken in the meeting are implemented. “The council meetings have become waste of time. The property tax was fixed at 15 per cent in the last meeting. However, it has not been implemented,” he added.

Standing Committee President K S Ramesh said “the ruling party member H M Nandakumar has allegedly encroached the land by constructing a shed behind his house. The council had passed a resolution to clear the shed. However, it has not been cleared so far,” he alleged.

“The Congress members are misusing the power. The Deputy Commissioner has already withheld the release of funds. We will hold discussion with the DC and decide on the future course of action,” he added.

Congress member H M Nandakumar said “the BJP members have boycotted the meeting for personal reason. They do not have concern for development. They are levelling unnecessary allegations. The land situated behind my house do not belong to the CMC. The land is my property,” he clarified.

“A CMC members has constructed house on paisari land by showing the document of some other land. Using the government fund, the members has constructed a retaining wall for his house. There is a need to probe into such incidents as well,” he said.
