Energy Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday said the government is planning to name Bangalore University after Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru.
He told reporters after reviewing preparations for organising Kempegowda Jayanti that Kempegowda Development Authority will establish a memorial of Kempegowda at Kempapura near Magadi where Kempegowda’s samadhi is located.
The Kannada and Culture department will organise Kempegowda Jayanti at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha on June 27, he added.
