Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddi has said that criminal action would be initiated against anyone troubling girls wearing ‘burqa.’
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the minister said that ‘burqa’ should not be identified with any religion. “It is a culture. Anyone can wear a burqa. There is no law barring Hindus from wearing it.”
The minister said that there was provision to initiate action against educational institutions which directly or indirectly ins-tigate students against ‘burqa.’
