The male elephant, which was captured near Aigur in Sakleshpur taluk was transported to Mattigodu elephant camp located near Mysore-Kodagu border, here on Tuesday.

Five elephants including Dasara elephant Abhimanyu took part in the operation.

The tranquilised elephant recovered on Tuesday. The elephant protested by fighting with the other elephants which tried to push the captured elephant onto a lorry. But the fight of the elephant was short-lived as team of elephants led by Abhimanyu, succeeded in boarding the elephant.

The elephant was brought to Mattigodu camp at around 5.30 pm. Forest officials had some tense moments while transporting the elephant, as the pachyderm tried to jump off the lorry.

The elephant tried to ram through the make shift enclosure on the lorry, but in vain.

Troubles at camp

Forest officials also had to face troubles at the camp, as the elephant did not budge despite other elephants trying to push the elephant off from the lorry.

Later, a collaborative effort from Gajendra and Abhimanyu succeeded in pulling the elephant down to the camp.
