The family of a cop miraculously escaped a tragedy, when the car that they were travelling in suddenly caught fire on Mysore-Bangalore Road, near Siddalingapur, on Monday. 

Kantharaj, 39, Inspector (Law and Order), Devaraja Police Station, a resident of Ramanahalli, here was returning home with his family members from Pandavapura, when the incident occurred.

He was travelling with his wife Devika, 28 years, and father-in-law K Srinivas, 69 years in the Maruti 800 car (KA 05 2062). Kantharaj noticed a spark near the bonnet and immediately all three jumped of them out of the car. By the time the fire personnel dozed the fire, the car was almost charred.
