The Congres party is likely to announce its list of probable candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections to be held by February-end or March first week.
Unlike in the past, the Congress party is issuing the list of candidates’ names at least a month before the calender of events is announced by the Election Commission.
1,600 applications filled
The party has already issued 2,400 applications and 1,600 filled-in applications have been received. The last date to receive application is January 25. Early announcement would help in containing rebels, it is said.
Ticket aspirants include - Meena, mother of film actor Darshan, S Mahendar, movie director, Umashri, film actress, retired IAS officer Ashok Kumar Manoli, retired police officer Shankar Bidari’s brother Ashok Bidari.
