Dismissing disdainfully BJP leader Narendra Modi’s third consecutive victory in Gujarat as “restricted to Gujarat alone,” Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara on Thursday said it would have no political bearing on the State.

Stating that Modi’s charisma was overrated, as his charm had not worked in Himachal Pradesh, Parameshwara said despite Modi’s campaigning in that State, “the results are there for everybody to see.”

Back home, he said, with the BJP government “lacking majority,” it should refrain from taking any administrative decisions. The Congress, he said, would once again petition Governor H R Bhardwaj to dismiss the government and bring in President’s rule.

Meanwhile, K Diwakar, former legal advisor to KJP leader B S Yeddyurappa, joined the Congress, observing that it had become intolerable for him to withstand the stifling atmosphere in the party.

Stating that all decisions of the BJP were made at Keshava Krupa, he said the RSS’ hold over the party was unchallenged. It is said Diwakar, who gained entry into the Congress with the blessings of Kagodu Thimmappa, has sought to contest the coming Assembly elections from Shimoga.

Five Gram Panchayat members from Shimoga district also joined the Congress along with Diwakar.
