Cops arrest Khandya in 2011 case

 The Chikkamagaluru Town police on Saturday arrested Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Khandya in connection with a case that was registered against him for obstructing police personnel in the execution of their duty during the Dattamala Abhiyana in 2011.

Khandya, who is the main suspect in the suicide of DySP Kallappa Handibag and kidnap of businessman Tejas Gowda, has obtained anticipatory bail from the high court. He was at large for the last five months. The police arrested him in the 2011 case when he visited his lawyer at the district sessions court premises here. The court has remanded him in judicial custody till Monday. The police had already arrested five people in this case.
