Some petty shop owners who are members of the Sahara Physically Disabled Welfare Trust (SPDWT) have alleged that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials have been harassing physically challenged people by evicting them from their premises.

Addressing reporters here, SPDWT secretary Syed Usman said that the MCCofficials have been evicting and demolishing petty shops without prior notice. He claimed that the government, in an effort to keep them financially empowered, had given permissions and also subsidy to open petty shops. But, the MCCauthorities are creating trouble by destroying the shops and are even abusing the owners if they approach them seeking possession of the seized shops, he complained.

While the Deputy Commissioner and MCCCommissioner have assured suitable measures, the zonal commissioners are creating problems, Usman alleged.
