Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday scoffed at Opposition BJP’s threat to intensify agitation against four “tainted ministers” in the State Cabinet and dues to be paid to sugar cane farmers by stating that the State legislature session in Belgaum has been called to discuss all issues.

“People should discuss these issues inside the House rather than demonstrating outside. By staging demonstration on the street, the BJP has made it clear that it does not have faith in democracy. They also believe that these tactics would help them come back to power but they forget that people have already thrown them out of power,” Siddaramaiah said.

He said the four ministers branded tainted by the BJP - K J George, H S Mahadev Prasad, Dinesh Gundu Rao and Qamarul Islam -  have done no wrong. Speaking about the sugar cane procurement, Siddaramaiah said a court order had favoured the decision taken by the Sugar cane Control Board fixing the price at Rs 2,500 per tonne. “The price fixed by the board will have to be paid,” he said.
