The Karnataka High Court has directed the state government to make its stand clear on the ongoing strike by the doctors of the private hospital by 2.30 pm today (Thursday).
Taking up a PIL on the doctors strike for hearing, the divisional bench of the high court, led by Acting Chief Justice H G Ramesh, observed: "This (doctors' strike) is a serious matter and the government should inform the court about its stand by 2.30 pm."
The bench adjourned the matter.
Death toll: 15 and counting
With the striking doctors in no mood to relent, as many as 15 people have died due to lack of medical attention, since Monday.
On Thursday, Nagaraj, a farmer from Gollarahatti in Hosapete taluk, died of heart attack at the primary healthcare centre in the village. His family members have alleged that Nagaraj died as he could not get timely treatment at private hospitals.
The private doctors have struck work since Nov 13 opposing a few provisions of the proposed KPME Bill.
