In his valedictory address, K Siddappa, former vice-chancellor of Bangalore University said the trends in the technical subjects like the Webometrics, Informetrics and Scientometrics changes faster than ever in the contemporary world. Earlier, the knowledge updating in any of the subjects required years. The doubling of the concepts and new knowledge in any subject needed about 2-3 years. Now, the scenario is changed.

The knowledge in any subject gets doubled within a year or six months. There was need to keep the students and teachers updated with the latest knowledge with conferences like these, he opined. Prof Hildrun Kretschmer, Honorary professor of Henan Normal University, Xinxiang, China, who is also the chair for the 11th COLLNET meeting said she was impressed with the Mysore conference. There was lot of exchange of new ideas, she said.

Vice-Chancellor V G Talawar, Jagadish Arora, Director of Inflibnet, Ahmedabad, organising chair of the three-day event S L Sangam and others were present.
