The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) has planned to conduct a 10-12 day course in screenplay writing and cinematography. It proposes to invite over 250 students from across the State for the course.

The academy will be inviting leading directors and subject-matter experts from across the country to teach students on the subject. The course is scheduled to be held in June or May, this year.

The academy has also proposed to digitise and create a voluminous film library in the State, in an effort to preserve the history of Kannada films for the next generation. Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Kannada Vakchitra (talkie film) celebrations, president of the academy and veteran director S V Rajendra Singh Babu said, “We have proposed to digitise the available films and preserve them. We have sent a proposal to the government already in this regard.”
