Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao said on Wednesday that disproportionate assets of government officials unearthed during raids will be seized and subsequently they would become government property.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Rao said that earlier cases were filed against officials for amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income but properties were not seized and taken into government accounts.
However, now, the seized assets would become government property, he said.
Regarding illegal mining, meetings have been held with the officials of departments concerned and the report has been sent to the Centre for increasing the minimum fine for illegal mining from Rs one lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The Home Secretary has also been asked to take action against illegal mining, he added.
