Many places in South interior Karnataka and North Karnataka districts received heavy showers on Saturday night.
Parts of Tumakuru, Hassan and Ramanagaram districts experienced heavy rain on Saturday night. At a few places, including Magadi, Sira and Kunigal taluks, it rained till the early hours of Sunday.
Magadi town received a staggering 14 cm of rain followed by Sira 11 cm and Nelamangala 9 cm.
Heavy rain lashed Mandya city and parts of the district on Saturday night. The heavy downpour that started at around midnight, continued till 4 am.
The historical Kalikamba temple at Srirangapatna taluk was inundated with rainwater. The 12th century temple complex has Kalikamba, Kamateshwara, Ganapathi, Narayanaswami, Sridevi and Bhoodevi temples.
The Chikkakere lake at Chikkamarali village breached inundating parts of the village. However, the villagers swung into action and repaired it with stones and soil.
A huge tree got uprooted on the Bidar-Chamarajanagar national highway disrupting vehicular traffic for a while.
Gadag town and parts of the district including Lakshmeshwar, Naregal, Dambal and Mundargi witnessed heavy showers on Saturday night.
The downpour left many roads and houses inundated in low-lying areas in Gadag, including Hathalgeri Naka, Panchakshari Nagar, road in front of Venkatesh theatre, Malshetti Circle.
The town, however, recorded a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday noon. Cloud seeding was carried out in Gadag district a few days back.
The incessant rain has damaged about 75% of the kharif crops in the district, an official of Agriculture department told DH.
Hubballi city received heavy rain for more than an hour in on Sunday afternoon. Dharwad experienced drizzling in the evening.
Moderate to heavy rain lashed parts of Belagavi district on Sunday.
It rained for over half-an-hour at MK Hubli in Bailhongal taluk. Khanapur, Ghataprabha in Gokak and Hirebagewadi and surrounding villages are the other places that received moderate rains for around 20 minutes. The skies remained overcast throughout the day in Belagavi city.
According to Met department, parts of south and north interior Karnataka and coastal areas are likely to receive heavy rain/thundershowers for next two days.
