Actor and former chairman of Kannada Development Authority Mukhyamantri Chandru said, it is better to hold the Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, the national-level Kannada literary festival, once in three years, to make it meaningful.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration at Vidyavardhaka Law College here on Saturday. "Of late, the literary fests have become like religious fairs. There is not much use from the annual fairs, for either Kannada language or the state. The resolutions passed in each sammelanas remain only on paper. For instance, the implementation of Sarojini Mahishi Committee recommendation is being demanded since several years. But there has been no progress on this front," he pointed out.

"Job opportunities in the state is not improving. The interest of Kannada language is at stake. The resolutions passed in the sammelana should be feasible, to be implemented within a year," he said.
