Governor H R Bhardwaj administered the oath to the former Chief Justice of Uttaranchal High Court at the Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who was present on the occasion, congratulated the new Chief Justice.
The Chief Minister said he would discuss the much-talked Bill against cow slaughter with President Pratibha Patel on Monday. “The State government will focus on development activities. Presently, the mining controversy and padayatra has overshadowed all the development projects of the government,” Yeddyurappa remarked.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by several members of legal fraternity, including Lokayukta Santosh Hegde.
The new Chief Justice will be a part of the judicial proceedings from Monday.
