The sixth additional district and sessions court on Saturday awarded imprisonment till death to 'Cyanide' Mohan,in the case of rape, robbery and murder of a 28-year-old woman. This is the fifth case in which Mohan has been convicted.
The present case pertains to 2009. Mohan had befriended a woman from Maladi in Bantwal and had physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage. On September 23, 2009, he had asked the woman to accompany him to Hassan where he had sex with her. On the following day, Mohan asked the woman to take a pill to prevent pregnancy, but instead gave cyanide to her.The woman died after consuming the pill and Mohan checked out of the lodge collecting all her valuables.
The police arrested Mohan on October 21, 2009 in connection with another murder case.
