A lone tusker was spotted near Doddakere, Maddur.
A lone tusker was spotted near Doddakere on the outskirts of the town on Sunday. According to Forest department personnel, the elephant might have strayed away from the herd and was found wandering near Torebommanahalli near Maddur taluk.
The department personnel tried to drive away some elephants into the forest through Nelamakanahalli, Kagepura by bursting crackers but the tusker hid inside a sugarcane field near Gulaghatta in the taluk.
The department personnel said that they would try to chase the jumbo into Basavanabetta forest near Halagur in the night.
