Maintain cleanliness, prevent chikungunya

He visited the government hospital in the city on Tuesday and said that chikungunya cases were reported in Srinivaspur, Bangarpet, Malur, Marasandra, Nosagere and other taluks in the district. So far nearly forty cases of chikungunya have been registered.

He directed the TMC officials to contain the spread of the disease in the taluks by spraying bleaching powder in the drainage and by maintain cleanliness. Chikungunya is caused by Aedes mosquito which is generated in cement tanks, mud pots and containers used for storing water. Thus, to prevent this disease water containers should be cleaned once in a week. Also one should not allow water to get collected in unused tyres, coconut shells and other such waste, appealed district medical officer Ramesh.
