Man found dead, kin cry foul

The family members of a man, who was found dead at Balegarahatti in Tendekere village in the taluk, have lodged a complaint suspecting foul play. The family alleged that the deceased was murdered by his wife and her relatives.

The deceased is Manjegowda (45), son of Boregowda from Rajaghatta village. According to sources, Manjegowda had gone missing for two days. His body was found near a lake on Saturday evening.

Boregowda lodged a complaint against the deceased's wife Shivamma and her relatives for allegedly murdering Manjegowda.

Shivamma in turn, alleged that her husband Manjegowda, was an alcoholic and had been harassing her. The couple reportedly had a tiff on Friday evening after which Manjegowda left home stating that he had to attend a wedding in Tendekere. When he did not return even after two days, they launched a search for him in the village. She told the police that Manjegowda might have got drunk and fallen into the lake. A case has been registered.
