With the completion of the works of this bridge across Seethanadi, the long-pending demand of around 500 families in Karkigonda and Gundappa Maidan, most of them daily wagers, has been realised.

People had to take a longer route to visit Moorugadde Chamundeshwari temple every Friday. The bridge connects the villagers with Jayapura town. The project has been completed at an expenditure of Rs 9 lakh, which is a part of the special Naxal package.

The demand was there for several decades. The bridge is a brainchild of retired IAS officer Chiranjeevi Singh, the then Panchayat Raj Department Principal Secretary V P Baligar who had made a special study of the problems of the Naxal-infested areas in the Western Ghats region.

Engineer Girish Bharadhwaj, specialised in constructing hanging foot-bridges, is the architect for this bridge too.  Taluk Panchayat member Suma Nagesh expressed her pleasure over the completion of the work in a short duration.
