Sri Ram Sene leader Pramod Mutalik, on Friday, said he has decided to take a plunge into politics and is aspiring to contest the upcoming Assembly elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from one of the constituencies in Belgaum district.

He said he has already communicated his wish to the BJP. However, the party has not given any assurance to him.

He has not approached any other party. If the BJP refuses to give ticket, he would contest the election as an Independent candidate.

The constituency will be finalised soon after conducting a survey of four to five constituencies in the district, he added.
