Senior police official from the Squad informed that they suspect that the naxalites led by B G krishnamurthy must have shifted their base to some other district. While they suspect that the naxalites must have gone to Kodagu, there have been no traces of naxalites in Kodagu as well. At the same time, it is said that naxalites are eagerly working towards extending their activities to other districts.
Police sources say that it is a normal behaviour of naxalites to leave a place and go elsewhere when combing operations intensify, but at the same time, the possibility of naxalites hiding in the same region and operating cannot be ruled out. While Udupi and Shimoga district anti naxal squads are working as usual, Chikmagalur squad has disappeared all of a sudden, it is said.
