The state government has relaxed the norm for admission to schools under the Right to Education Act.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait told reporters on Sunday that parents seeking admission to their children under the RTE quota can now apply to any school in the place of their residence. Till now, the admission under this quota was restricted only to neighbourhood schools.

He said that the admissions to RTE quota will begin on February 15. He said the government was taking steps to prevent recurrence of question paper leak. The minister added an amendment would be brought to the Education Act in this regard. The amendments would be tabled during the upcoming legislature session, he added.
