Panel favours separate religion tag to Lingayat faith

The committee was constituted by the Karnataka State Minorities Commission following a demand from various quarters on giving Lingayat faith a separate religion tag.

An expert committee is said to have recommended according a separate religion status to the Lingayat faith.

The committee was constituted by the Karnataka State Minorities Commission following a demand from various quarters on giving Lingayat faith a separate religion tag.

The committee headed by retired High Court jugde Justice N S Nagamohan Das submitted its report to the Minorities Commission late on Friday. The Commission is likely to forward the report to the state government on Saturday.
