 Rain pounded various parts of the state, affecting normal life on Wednesday.

Chitradurga and Davangere received moderate to heavy rain in the evening. There were reports of rainwater entering houses in low-lying areas in both the districts. It rained in some parts of Belagavi district. Bhalki in Bidar district recorded 37.4 mm of rain. Nine houses collapsed in Shaktinagar of Raichur district following heavy rain.

Shankramma Ramachandra Avaradi (60) and her daughter Mahadevi Ramachandra Avaradi (30) were killed after the wall of their house collapsed and the tin-sheet roof fell on them in Byravadagi village of Basavanabagewadi taluk of Vijayapura district.

Doni river in Vijayanagara district is in spate following heavy rain. The inflow into Almatti reservoir has increased. There were reports of heavy rain in Kalaburagi district in the early morning hours. In the last 24 hrs (ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday) the district had received an average rainfall of 14 mm. The storage in Karanja dam increased to 6.80 tmcft against the maximum of 7.60 tmcft.

Heavy rain continued to lash Mysuru and Chamarajanagar district for the second day on Wednesday. Rainwater entered houses in NR Mohalla, Kanakadasa Nagar, Vidyaranyapuram in Mysuru. The premises of the temple atop Male Mahadeshwara Hill in Chamarajanagar district was flooded as a pond nearby overflowed. Tumakuru also received rain on Tuesday night.

Moderate rain lashed some parts of Shivamogga district. Heavy rain lashed Kolar district on Tuesday night.The district recorded a rainfall of 127.80 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Vadaguru tank on the outskirts of Kolar overflowed and water entered Kor-In school on NH-75. The personnel of the State Disaster Response Force rescued 45 students and 35 staff stranded in the marooned school. A huge tree collapsed in Murandahalli of the taluk, damaging two houses and electrical poles. Chikkaballapur town received heavy rain accompanied with thunder for about an hour on Wednesday evening.
