Ravi Belegare had himself admitted to KIMS under complaints of chest pain, hypotension and diabetes.

After being discharged from SDM Medical College hospital in Dharwad, ‘Hai Bengalur’ editor Ravi Belagere got himself admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospital here in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Belagere had complained of chest pain and is suffering from low blood pressure and diabetes. Doctors attending on him at KIMS say he is not critical, but under observation as he is suffering from other ailments like liver problem. Heavy dose of medicines has meant he is not fully awake.

“We expect him to recover in the next 24 hours,” said KIMS medical superintendent Shivappa V Anurshettru.

The Vidyagiri police in Dharwad have registered a complaint against Karna, son of Belagere, for preventing government officials from performing their duty and helping a ‘suspect’ escape.

Karna, along with two of his associates, has been charged with obstructing police in executing government orders on Monday night.

Vajramuni, sub-inspector of Subramanyapura police station in Bengaluru, has filed a complaint in the Dharwad police station. The officer said when his team went to SDM Medical College hospital to arrest Belagere, Karna along with his driver Basavaraj and assistant Lokesh prevented them from arresting Belagere. They also helped the ‘suspect’ run away. All the three were called to the station for enquiry on Tuesday morning and later released on station bail.
