The controversy on sharing Ayyanakere lake water with the villagers of Sakharayapattana was solved amicably.

The consumers of Brahmasamudra lake water and the leaders of Bisalehalli Gram Panchayat jurisdiction took part in a meeting held at Sakharayapattana police station on Saturday.

Presiding over the meeting, Tarikere Assistant Commissioner B B Saroja said that there was a clash regarding the supply of water from Ayyanakere, following drought situation in the taluk. Currently, there is only four- and-a-half foot water in Ayyanakere and the lake is filled with half foot silt. Out of the four foot water available, two foot will be distributed among the two villages, she said.

The assistant commissioner told the villagers to use water for drinking purpose and for cattle. The water should not be used for irrigating the farm land, she clearly said.

After the leaders from both the villages agreed to do so, Saroja, along with Tarikere DySP Tirumalesh, Tahsildar M Bhagya, inspectors K Satyanarayana, Balachandregowda, PSI Suneeta, minor irrigation department Hassan sub division Executive Engineer Narayana and AEE Channabasappa went to Ayyanakere and measured the water.
