The Centre has earmarked Rs 12 crore each for Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, Davangere, Shivamogga and Mangaluru, for preparing an action plan under the Smart Cities initiative.
Replying to a question by B Y Raghavendra (BJP), Minister of State for Municipal Administration Eshwar Khandre said Rs 1 crore had already been released to each city.
