Principal Secretary Gopalkrishne Gowda said on Friday that the funds – Rs 36 crore for SC and Rs 18 crore for ST categories this year – will be released only after the patient has availed assistance from other health schemes.
The patients can avail Rs one lakh or the actual cost if it’s within the ceiling for the treatment of cardiac problems, cancer and kidney diseases, said Dr C N Manjunath, Director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research.
Besides, 30 children suffering from congenital heart diseases have been undergoing surgery during the three-day national workshop that began on Friday.
